Start and end times: The Center is open 9 am–5 pm; visitors typically spend up to 3 hours. See below for the 2018 (hourly) shuttle schedule; check the Center’s website ( for the 2019 schedule when available.

Cost: No AOS registration fee. Cost for ticket is up to $25 per person, less for seniors, military and children (ages 7–16), free for children 6 years and younger. Ticket includes shuttle to-from downtown Anchorage. Shuttle stops closest to the Egan Center (conference venue) are at the Visit Anchorage visitor center and the Anchorage Museum. Tickets can be purchased at the Alaska Native Heritage Center at the time of the visit.

Maximum participants: Seats on the shuttle are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meals: Lunch and snacks available for purchase at onsite café.

Trip Description: The Alaska Native Heritage Center is a rich cultural center and museum located 15 minutes from downtown Anchorage. This trip offers an introduction to the diverse indigenous Alaska Native cultures, storytelling, singing and dancing, Native games, and artist demonstrations. A guided tour of six outdoor traditional Native dwellings represent cultures across Alaska.

Likely species: Although birding is not the primary purpose of this outing, the Alaska Native Heritage Center is in a wooded area and the visit includes outdoor activities.

Recommended Gear and Cautions: Dress in layers for weather conditions in outdoor tour; bring water bottle, insect repellent, binoculars.
