Trip Description: The Alaska Native Medical Center integrated Native art into the design of the facility with an overall goal to create a building that Alaska Native people could call their own. The resulting displays and incorporation of art throughout the facility showcases some of the finest Native artwork known (curators from the Smithsonian and American Museum drool when they visit). The tour ends with a visit to the Craft Shop where treasures are available for purchase—pricing is set with the artist and the shop adds a small percentage that supports a scholarship program and hospital needs.

Likely species: Many fabulous abstract and lifelike northern species – look for Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese in many forms.

Recommended Gear and Cautions: Comfortable shoes and money (cash or check, no credit cards).
