The AOS 2019 Meeting is coming up. Are you ready? Here is what you need to know before you go!

Time Zone:  As you plan your travel and schedule remember to take into account that Anchorage is in the Pacific Time Zone.

Program & Schedule: 

Presentation Upload: All presenters should have received an email from the AOS 2019 Presentation Upload Site with instructions on how to upload your presentation. If you registered as a presenting author and did not receive this email, please contact us immediately. Co-authors should use the presenting author’s log-in if they plan on uploading or working on a presentation. All presentations can be submitted via the site through April 9. After this date, submissions will only be accepted on-site in the Speaker Ready Room.

Ground Transportation: Transportation options from the Anchorage Airport to the conference center or your hotel are car rentals, cab service, or transportation companies, including Uber and Lyft. For more information, check out the Travel Information page on the conference website.

On-site Parking: 

On-site Registration and Name Badge Pick-up: Upon entering the event center, there will be signs directing you to the meeting Registration and Information Desk. Hours will be announced.

On-site Internet Access: Access wireless internet throughout the conference center.

Silent Auction: Help support student events at upcoming meetings by donating items to the student-run silent auction and placing your bid between Wednesday at noon to Friday morning at 10:20 AM. Winners will receive an email on Friday around noon with instructions on pickup and payments. Prepare to pay either via the OSNA Member Portal (with credit card of your choice – assistance provided if needed) OR by personal check. We will not be able to accept cash or credit card payments outside of the OSNA Member Portal. Donors can either bring items to registration or ship ahead of time. Dining Options:  More details about nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores are available on the meeting website: https://amornithmeeting.org/food-coffee/

For special events (e.g. Fellows Dinner, opening reception, poster sessions, closing banquet, etc) throughout the meeting where food is provided, please note: vegetarian, and gluten free options will be provided and labeled as such.
If you have any other specific dietary needs, please email with subject line “Dietary Need – (special event name)” so other arrangements can be made.

Closing Reception & Banquet: Come and join us for dinner to celebrate the end of what is sure to be a great week of ornithological research! If you would still like to purchase a ticket ($65) you can email Chris Mulvaney (cmulvaney@americanornithology.org) before the start of the meeting, or tickets will be on sale at the Registration Desk.
Please note: vegetarian, and gluten free options will be provided and labeled as such on the buffet. If you have any other specific dietary needs, please email with subject line “Dietary Need – (special event name)” so other arrangements can be made.

Bird Jam: After the closing banquet on Saturday night come join us at the Bird Jam for a fun and relaxing evening full of bird songs, music and dancing! If you would still like to purchase a ticket ($15), you can do so before the conference by emailing Chris Mulvaney (cmulvaney@americanornithology.org) or tickets will be on sale at the Registration Desk. If you are interested in performing you can still sign up by filling out the following form.

Field Trips:  If you have registered for a Field Trip, you should have received an email. If you did not receive an email, contact us

All-out Ostrich Scramble 5K:  If you have registered for the 5K run, you should have received an email, with information and guidelines. Contact us if you did not receive the email.

Local Birding: For up-to-date information on local sightings, check out eBird. Volunteers will lead Early Morning Bird Walks from 6 – 7:30 AM each morning, meeting at the Registration Desk. More information about signing up for these will also be at the Registration Desk.

Childcare: Families are welcome at many events during the meeting. Attendees with young families can check out our Family Resources page. We have provided links to suggested local activities for families along with names of local childcare providers, some of which will arrange to come to the hotel.

Code of Conduct: All conference attendees are expected to abide by the AOS Meeting Code of Professional Conduct.

Social media: We encourage you to promote ornithological research during the conference! Please utilize #AOS18AZ when posting. Please review the AOS Social Media Policy for more information on our social media channels, especially if you would like to opt out of social media sharing of your work.
